RICHARD WADE

Richard Wade, M.A. creator of www.sciencetalks.com leads an interactive and fun demonstration of how the dinosaurs lived and died. Children will discover how a fossil is created. Richard will explain the geologic timescale from periods to eras to eons. His presentation includes a full-scale model of a T-Rex skull, as well as a 7 foot model of a brachiosaurus leg bone! Don't let your child miss out on this exciting visual and learning experience that brings the Earth's ancient history to life!

DAVID LYNCH

David K. Lynch, PhD, is an astronomer and planetary scientist living in Topanga, CA. When not hanging around the fault or using the large telescopes on Mauna Kea, he plays fiddle, collects rattlesnakes, gives public lectures on rainbows and writes books (Color and Light in Nature, Cambridge University Press) and essays. Dr. Lynch's latest book is the Field Guide to the San Andreas Fault. The book contains twelve one-day driving trips along different parts of the fault, and includes mile-by-mile road logs and GPS coordinates for hundreds of fault features. As it happens, Dave's house was destroyed in 1994 by the magnitude 6.7 Northridge earthquake.

ALAN SCHAFFERT

Dr. Schaffert is a local physician and amateur paleontologist with a passion for marine fossils. He and his wife Cris have traveled extensively, and as a result, have personally collected specimens from Michigan, Colorado, Utah and California. A major focus of their vast collection is Cretaceous ammonites which are ancient shellfish related to the modern octopus and squid. This is the third year that we have had the honor of the Schaffert's exhibit at our show. Dr. Schaffert, his wife Cris, and his son Erik will be available to discuss their collection. Also this year, Dr. Schaffert will be talking about the visual systems in paleontology. Don't miss this peek into the ocean's past!
